The “User tab” in “Expert mode” provides the option to activate “Change password periodically”, enable the “MFA”. The Multi-factor authentication is an electronic authentication method, in which a user is granted access to a website or application after successfully presenting two or more factors to an authentication mechanism.
Before you can start the activation process, please go ahead and download the "Oracle Mobile Authentication" app (free version) or "IBM Security Verify" on your mobile device. After enabling the MFA button a QR code should appear, which you can scan with your mobile device within the app. After successfully scanning the code a new account will be created on your device. Afterwards please enter the code generated in the mobile app. By entering the correct code the MFA set up is being confirmed.
MFA can be set up as two options:
- allow the use of MFA in this case each user can thereafter decide for itself if she/he wants to enable the use of MFA for her/his account; users may set up the MFA authentication process if they wish so and provide the one-time code each time they log in if MFA is enabled; users can also disable the MFA whenever they choose so
- enforce the use of MFA in this case MFA is enabled and enforced automatically for all the user accounts that belong to the company profile; users must set up the MFA authentication process and provide the one-time code each time they log in; users may not disable the MFA under any circumstances
